PET Recycling conventional mechanical (Grinding, Washing, Drying)   

The plant is designed for the production of clean and dry flakes, starting from PET bottles selected according to colour. The flakes can be used for further processing (fibers) or the production of regranulate (Extruder + Crystalliser), or to recover the basic chemical components Terephtalic Acid and Ethylene Glycole by means of chemical recycling.

Existing PET recycling plants can be backfitted for chemical recycling.

Material loading

The material arrives in bales and is put onto a loading conveyor. The binding wires have to be removed and the bales loosen up due to internal elastic tension.  For the Grinding and Washing plant ML 1400 no problem arises if some bottles are still sticking together.

 

Grinding and Washing

The Grinding and Washing plant ML 1400 is loaded by means of a mounting conveyor. The plant grinds the material to flakes and cleans is due to the mutual friction of the flakes and the injected water. Paper labels are reduced to fibers and are removed with other contaminants with the washing water. 

The flakes are discharges to the hopper of the ML1400.

 

Separation of flakes form PE/PP

Subsequently a drained auger conveys the material to the Float-Sink tank, where PE/PP  labels and taps are removed. For small production (4-500 kg) the tank left is proposed, for more capacity the large tank will be used. For the circulating water (closed loop) of the ML1400 and the tank a simplified water treatment plant is required.

 

Post-cleaning and Drying

The flakes at the bottom of the tank are conveyed, by means of a drained auger, to a Turbo-Wash and a dynamic centrifuge, where they are post-cleaned and dried. For extreme requirements of dryness a fluid bed dryer will additionally be applied. From the centrifuge the flakes, be means of a pneumatic transport system, are transported to the mixing silo from which the can be filled into BigBags for shipping.
